Nowhere in Arusha (Tanzania) will pamper you more than the Legendary Lodge which is nestled in a coffee plantation on the outskirts of the town. It consists of a main building and several accommodation cottages spread throughout the gardens shaded by enormous jacaranda trees, which on clear days offer stunning views of 4,565m high (14,968 ft) Mount Meru.
The lodge only has ten superbly decorated garden cottages and an additional two-bedroomed cottage, which is ideal for families. The design of the interiors of the cottages blend African arts & crafts with colonial style furnishings.
Each en suite cottage features a comfortable split level living area with plenty of space for the king size beds (with Swahili style mosquito nets), a lounge with a fireplace, direct dial telephone, broadband connection, complimentary mini-bar and a filled fruit basket. Adjoining this room is a bathroom with a bathtub, shower and full range of bathroom amenities.
The main building has a colonial aspect with lounge and bar and a veranda popular for breakfasts, which overlooks the gardens. There is a swimming pool, and a spa. Nearby on the same property, the Friedkin Recreation Centre offers a fully equipped gymnasium with aerobics studio, steam room, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts as well as a five kilometre running track.
The lodge is situated only ten minutes from Arusha’s regional airport and the road to Lake Manyara, making it the perfect location to begin the safari without having to tackle Arusha’s infamous traffic.
